  • Guide
Family-friendly hiking at Gunung Bintan Nature, views, and fresh air in Bintan

While Bintan Island is best known for its beautiful beaches and luxury resorts, the island also offers a refreshing nature escape for travelers who enjoy light adventure. One of the most rewarding outdoor activities you can experience is hiking to Mount Bintan, often referred to as the roof of Bintan Island.

This easy and scenic hike is perfect for guests staying around the Bintan Resorts area who want to explore more than just the coastline.

Where Is Mount Bintan and How to Get There

Mount Bintan is located inland and can be reached in around 30 minutes by car from the Bintan Resorts area. The road leading to the hiking starting point is accessible and suitable for a half-day trip. Because of its close distance, Mount Bintan is a popular choice for travelers looking to add a nature activity to their holiday without spending too much time on the road.

Rising to approximately 340 meters above sea level, Mount Bintan is the highest point on Bintan Island. While it is not a tall mountain by Indonesian standards, its height makes it ideal for relaxed hiking. The moderate elevation allows visitors of all ages to enjoy the journey while still being rewarded with beautiful views from the top.

Standing at the summit gives a special feeling, ou are literally at the highest point of the island, surrounded by lush greenery and fresh forest air.

A Family-Friendly Hiking Experience

The hiking trail at Mount Bintan is suitable for families, children, and adults. The path is gentle and well-used, making it a good option even for first-time hikers. After walking a few hundred meters from the main gate, you will come across a small waterfall. During the rainy season, the water volume increases, creating a more scenic and refreshing stop along the trail.

The total hiking time to reach the summit is around one hour at a comfortable pace. Along the way, you can enjoy birdsong, the sound of insects, and the cool, clean air of the rainforest.

Once you reach the top of Mount Bintan, you will be rewarded with a panoramic view of Bintan Island from above. On clear days, the view stretches across forests and lowlands, making it a great spot for photos and a peaceful break before heading back down.

What to Bring for Your Hike

To make your hike more comfortable, it is recommended to bring:

  • Mosquito lotion
  • Proper footwear with good grip
  • A cap or hat
  • A hiking pole (optional)
  • A small first aid kit
