Singapore, 8 September 2025 – Bintan Resort Ferries (BRF) today marked a significant milestone with the keel laying of its new 43-meter catamaran ferries at Strategic Marine Shipyard in Singapore. The ceremony was officiated by key executives and partners, and attended by Mr. Eugene Cho Park, CEO of Gallant Venture, Mr. Frans Gunara, COO of Gallant Venture, Sebastian Koh, General Manager of Bintan Resort Ferries and Mr. Chan Eng Yeo, CEO of Strategic Marine,
The ferries are being constructed by Strategic Marine Singapore, a shipbuilder renowned for its track record in delivering hundreds of high-performance vessels across the region. Each ferry will carry up to 293 passengers over two decks, including 57 Emerald Class seats. Designed with speed, safety, and eco-friendliness in mind, the vessels will feature modern interiors, enhanced amenities, and sustainable technologies to ensure a more comfortable and environmentally responsible travel experience. Among the notable upgrades is the relocation of Emerald Class seating from the upper to the main deck, providing easier accessibility and greater convenience for premium passengers.
The addition of these ferries will allow for an increase in the number of daily departures between Singapore and Bintan and further enhance service reliability. BRF’s investment is part of its long-term strategy to deliver a modern fleet that supports the growth of Bintan Resorts as a premier holiday destination. “Today is a significant milestone in BRF’s history. The keel laying, though symbolic, marks the physical commencement of construction for our new ferries,” said Sebastian Koh, General Manager of Bintan Resort Ferries. With this investment in the next generation of efficient ferries, BRF is actively supporting the growth of Bintan Resorts. We will not just be building new ferries; we are elevating the travel experience and fostering greater confidence among our passengers.” The new ferries are expected to begin service with BRF from the second half of 2026 onwards.
The expansion comes at a time of rising tourism demand and post-pandemic recovery, reinforcing BRF’s vision for the future and its commitment to providing seamless connectivity to Bintan Resorts. “We are proud to partner with Bintan Resort Ferries on this landmark project,” said Mr. Chan Eng Yeo, CEO of Strategic Marine. “With our extensive experience in delivering world-class vessels across the region, Strategic Marine is committed to ensuring that these new ferries will set new standards in efficiency, comfort, and reliability.
