Bintan Resorts has received the Certificate Awards of Sustainable Tourism Destinations (2022 – 2025). This award was given directly by the Minister of Tourism and the Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia during the celebration of World Tourism Day 2022 in Bali on September 27, 2022.
Group General Manager PT. Bintan Resort Cakrawala (BRC), Abdul Wahab explained that the Product Certification Agency (LS-Pro) appointed by the Ministry of Tourism and the Creative Economy has carried out a verification and certification process for Bintan Resorts where all the requirements are met based on the guidelines and criteria for Sustainable Tourism Destinations.
The plenary meeting of the Reviewer Panel of the Indonesian Sustainable Tourism Council (ISTC) was held on September 10, 2022. This institution considered and decided on the Awards category based on surveillance, monitoring, field assessments, and verification of the auditor team.
The selection of Bintan Resorts as one of the Integrated Tourist Destinations located in Bintan Regency, Riau Islands Province started from the assessment and review by ISTC.
The assessment criteria are based on the Four Sustainable Tourism Standards consisting of Sustainable Management, Socio-Economic Sustainability, Cultural Sustainability, and Environmental Sustainability. These consisted of 175 Application Criteria that are set based on International Standards by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
In his explanation, Abdul Wahab said that Bintan Resorts in its operational activities has paid attention to and implemented Standards that support the Sustainability of the Tourism industry, providing Social and Economic impacts in managing Bintan Resorts as Tourist Destinations on Bintan Island.
“All of these things can be carried out properly and sustainably in the form of programs where the implementation always refers to regulatory policies and supported by the Local Government of Bintan Regency, all Tourism Actors, Hotel operators, Stakeholders, Communities, and others, within or outside the region, and around the Bintan Resorts area,” said Abdul Wahab.
The Management and all Stakeholders are very proud of the Award given and express their highest gratitude to the Local Government of Bintan Regency which has helped a lot in developing Bintan as a tourism destination, including Bintan Resorts.
Of course, this continues to be a driving force for Bintan Resorts to always provide the best quality standards for tourism destinations, especially for the Riau Islands Province and Indonesia. The most important thing is to maintain the moral responsibility in managing Sustainable Tourism that will meet the needs of the current generation, without compromising the fulfillment of the needs of future generations.
