Getting to Bintan

There’s several way to getting to Bintan, such as via Singapore, via Indonesia, or via Private Yacht.

VIA SINGAPORE

Getting to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal

There is a regular ferry service operated by Bintan Resorts Ferries (BRF) that plies between Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (TMFT), Singapore and Bandar Bentan Telani (BBT) Ferry Terminal, Bintan Resorts. The high-speed catamaran ferry ride only takes 60 minutes.

International visitors arriving through Singapore’s Changi Airport can travel to TMFT via scheduled shuttle bus or public transportation.

Shuttle Bus Services

There is a shuttle service providing two-way transfer between Singapore Changi Airport and Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (TMFT) with pick up points at Terminal 1 and Terminal 4.

Passengers arriving in Terminal 2 can head to Terminal 1 via link bridge or skytrain, or head to Terminal 4 via the T2-T4 shuttle bus to board the shuttle service bound for TMFT. Passengers arriving in Terminal 3 can head to Terminal 1 via link bridge or skytrain to board the shuttle service.

The Changi-TMFT shuttle service will be suspended with effect from 1 Apr 2020 till further notice due to the rapidly evolving global situation with COVID–19.

Public Transportation

For international guests traveling through Singapore Changi Airport, taxi service is available at any of Changi Airport’s terminals. The taxi ride takes approximately 15 minutes, depending on the traffic conditions.

Other than taxis, individuals can also get to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal via the Mass Rapid Transport (MRT) Train Service, followed by a bus transfer.

  • Alight at Tanah Merah MRT Station.
  • Exit the Train Station on Exit B and proceed to Bus Stop 85091.
  • Board SBS Transit Bus Service 35 and alight at the last stop at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal.

* For international guests traveling through Singapore Changi Airport, Changi Airport MRT Station is at the basement of Terminal 2 and 3, individuals arriving at Terminal 1 are required to take the Sky Train towards either Terminal 2 or 3.

* For travelers leaving Bintan to catch a flight from Singapore Changi Airport, please allow 1.5–2 hours window period (depending on mode of transport).

Singapore Cruise Centre (SCC) will undertake an upgrade of Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (TMFT) to modernize its facilities, enhance passenger experience and position for growth. Passengers will be able to look forward to future self-service kiosks for seamless, contactless check-in, bag drop and boarding by Jan 2025. The terminal will also be getting an updated look, a larger passenger departure area as well as other amenities including more F&B outlets. The year-long renovation will be done in stages to minimize inconveniences to the users of our terminal. Ferry services to and from Bintan Resorts remains unaffected.

Bintan Resort Ferries

Bintan Resorts Ferries (BRF) is a regular ferry service that plies between Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (TMFT), Singapore and Bandar Bentan Telani (BBT) Ferry Terminal, Bintan Resorts on a daily basis. The high-speed catamaran ferry ride brings you to Bintan Resorts in only 60 minutes.

Ferry tickets can be booked online via Bintan Resort Ferries (BRF) at www.brf.com.sg. Visitors can also purchase their ferry tickets at the ferry terminal. Cash and card payments are accepted over the BRF Counter. Opt to travel with first class treatment on board Bintan Resort Ferries’ Emerald Class.

Perks for Emerald Class include dedicated and combined check-in for boarding and baggage, seat assignment, use of Emerald Lounge and priority baggage handling.

Things to note:

  • Bintan Indonesia is 1 hour behind Singapore
  • Please check in at least 1.5 hours before the ferry departure time.
  • Optional purchase of AIG travel insurance (Bintan) is available via BRF website.

VIA Malaysia

SCHEDULE UPDATE

Please note the updated ferry schedule between Pasir Gudang and Bintan Resorts, effective immediately :

New Schedule (Friday, Saturday, Sunday):

Pasir Gudang → Bintan Resorts: 09:00 AM
Bintan Resorts → Pasir Gudang: 12:30 PM

This change is due to strong afternoon waves and will remain until further notice.

Ferry From Pasir Gudang, Johor Bahru

The new Johor Bahru-Bintan ferry service operates on weekends from December 2024 to January 2025, providing a convenient connection between Malaysia and Indonesia. Departures from Johor Bahru’s Pasir Gudang Ferry Terminal are scheduled at 9:30 AM (Malaysia Time), while return trips from Bintan’s Bandar Bentan Telani Ferry Terminal are at 4:00 PM (Indonesia Time).

The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Ticket prices are set at 260 MYR for adults and 160 MYR for children for round trips, while one-way tickets cost 180 MYR for adults and 120 MYR for children. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket counters of both terminals, offering an accessible and efficient travel option for passengers.

Domestic Flights

Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport

Domestic flights to Bintan Island are also available within Indonesia. Visitors can choose to take a domestic flight to Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport in Kijang, Bintan Island from Jakarta, Perkanbaru, Matak, Batam, Dabo Singkep or Natuna. Land transfer from Raja Haji Fisabilillah to Bintan Resorts is approximately 1 hour.

Sri Bintan Pura Ferry Terminal

There is daily ferry service from Punggur Ferry Terminal, Batam to Sri Bintan Pura Ferry Terminal, Tanjungpinang operated by MV SENTOSA or MV BARUNA.

The ferry ride takes approximately 60 minutes and costs IDR 110,000 for two-way transport. The ferry is available every 15 minutes from 07.20 WIB to 18.20 WIB daily.

BATAM — TANJUNG UBAN (Return) via Speedboat

Tanjung Uban Ferry Terminal

Speedboat services are available daily from 7am till 6pm from the Tanjung Uban Domestic Speedboat Ferry Terminal at Tanjung Uban, with an interval of 1 hour, depending on the passenger demand.

The speedboat ride takes about 10-15 minutes and costs IDR40,000 for one-way transport. Bookings to be made directly at Tanjung Uban Domestic Speedboat Ferry Terminal.

BATAM — TANJUNG UBAN (Return) via RORO

Tanjung Uban Domestic RORO

Roro (ferry) services are available daily from 8am till 5.30pm from the Tanjung Uban Domestic Roro Ferry Terminal at Tanjung Uban, with an interval of 1 hour 15 minutes, depending on the passenger demand.

The ride takes about 60 minutes and costs IDR20,000 for one-way transport. Bookings to be made directly at Tanjung Uban Domestic Roro Ferry Terminal.

VIA PRIVATE YACHT

Marina Bintan Resorts

Bintan Resorts comprises of marina pontoons suitable for private yachts up to 25 meters in length and draft up to 3 metres at Bandar Bentan Telani Ferry Terminal. There are a total of 14 berths at this facility located at this coordinate, offering both short-term and long-term berthing. Electrical and water hook-ups are also available at the berths.

As of 2012, under the Regulation of President No.79/2011 all local and international yachts are allowed to sail directly to Bandar Bentan Telani (BBT), Bintan Resorts with customs and immigration clearance available at BBT.

Green Book and Sailing Permit (CAIT) are no longer required as stipulated in Presidential Decree No 105/2015, allowing yachts to enter Indonesia directly. Temporary Import Permit is also no longer required.
