Fancy an enriching chance to meet rescued endangered animals and bird species up close? Include Safari Lagoi and Eco Farm in your itinerary during your next Bintan getaway! The safari houses sun bears, Sumatran elephants, Komodo dragons, Estuarine crocodiles and more. Wave to an orangutan just metres apart and experience close encounters with rare birds such as lories, eagles and vultures at the sanctuary.
A stroll in the Eco Farm will bring you to a wide variety of tropical crops like rice, peanuts, corn, papayas, bananas and dragon fruits. Flowers such as sunflowers and lavenders are also cultivated. Walk through the short pathway lined with lavenders and fill your Instagram feed with a sea of purple. Chance upon a mulberry tree and taste nature’s sweetness. Participate in an educational tour, and indulge yourself in a pot of ginger or Rosella tea, as well as ‘rojak’, a refreshing salad made from fruits and ingredients harvested from the farm, dipped in a sweet and savoury thick sauce.
Safari Lagoi and Eco Farm aims to inform and educate the public on the need to protect and conserve the immense biodiversity and natural heritage of Indonesia. As a refuge centre for endangered Indonesian fauna, the animals and birds in the safari are mainly rescued from illegal pet trade and exotic meat markets. Others were either sick or injured and subsequently nursed back to health in the premises. These residents are mostly judged to be incapable of survival if released back in the wild and hence are provided with continued quality care at the centre. Dedicated to wildlife and environmental conservation, the establishment maintains close partnerships with like-minded individuals, institutions and government bodies including the Indonesian Ministry of Nature Conservation and Forestry.
Located within Bintan Resorts, Safari Lagoi and Eco Farm is fitting for a half-day tour. You may want to indulge in a full day of nature activities and head to a Mangrove Discovery Tour, or get your adrenaline pumping at Chill Cove @ Treasure Bay Bintan. Alternatively, you could head towards the hawker centre of Pujasera Township for a taste of local treats such as Nasi Goreng, Indomie Goreng or Nasi Padang.
